The NGO CSW67 Forum is a civil society gathering that runs parallel to the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York City. The forum brings together initiatives and organisations for the empowerment of women and girls to inform, engage and inspire. It aims to bridge the gap between global civil society, local organisations and the official process of the CSW. This year’s event takes place 5-17 March with the theme “Innovation, Technological Change and Education in the Digital Age on Gender Equality and the Empowerment of All Women and Girls.”

Sandra Becker, GLAM Lead of Wikimedia CH and committed feminist, and GLAM Expert Amandine Cabrio will represent the Wikimedia Movement with the topic “Knowledge Equity in GLAM: What can politics and governments do to support Equity in GLAM?”. Sandra’s talk is a blend of lecture and workshop and will begin on 7 March at 18:15 local time in New York (00:15 CET on 8 March, which is International Women’s Day.) Anyone interested can join her session live via Zoom. The event will be broadcast from the Church Center for the United Nations (CCUN), 777 United Nations Plaza in New York.

Sandra, who is also founder of the feminist network FEMNetz of the German-language Wikipedia, heard about the forum’s call for topics through her network and sent a proposal. “It was a big surprise that we have been accepted,” she says. “I am pleased about this special opportunity.”

Together with the workshop participants, she intends to produce a working paper with suggestions on knowledge justice in GLAM institutions, which she will present to relevant institutions as part of her work in Switzerland and Germany. “My session is not only about women, but also about marginalised groups,” she emphasises.

To all who are committed to the issue, : Register and network with thousands of participants and share your interests and passion for women’s rights and gender equality!
